This memorial was created in honor of Dale Kenneth Besteder of Derwood, Maryland who passed on July 9, 2017.
Dale was born on January 23, 1943 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Beaulah Brace and Walter Besteder. He was blessed to have had many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that he stayed in close contact with through the years.
He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Catherine I. Besteder; his daughters, Elizabeth J. Bladen and Jennifer R. Allwine, grandsons Owen T. Allwine and William R. Bladen, his sister Sandra Reinbold, and his dog "Bear"
Dale is remembered as a fun loving husband and father who was very dedicated to his family and an active member of the community. He was an active member and past President of the Derwood Lions club, and a member of the Friends of the Agricultural Farm Park of Derwood, Maryland.
Dale's passions included fishing, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
Dale enjoyed traveling with his family. He enjoyed visiting family in Pennsylvania, beach vacations at Chincoteague and the Bahamas and road trips, including a trip out west to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Idaho, an adventure that included rock hunting and panning for gold.
Dale retired from The Washington Post having worked there for over 30 years in production of the newspaper. He was member of the Communications Workers Union Washington Mailers Local 29. He kept in contact after retirement with many of his co-workers who became life long friends.
Dale lived life to the fullest. He was blessed with a large loving family, and good friends. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Besteder Family home at 17916 Muncaster Road; Derwood, MD 20855 on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
