A letter to Mom from Gracie

As long as the sun keeps rising and setting, my love for you will continue. It had no beginning for it is all I have ever known. I am an extension of you and your love has strengthened me in troubled times. Your encouragement is uplifting and raises my confidence. Your laughter is like a song that makes me want to get up and dance, bringing my heart joy. Your smile, always so friendly and warm is like the sun coming through the clouds. Your tender touch and gentleness always abide and fill my heart and soul with comfort. Your sweet hugs and kisses on the cheek speak of your unconditional love and commitment. I know that I am loved as each time I speak to you or see you, as your joy radiates and welcomes me like the dawning of a new day. I have been your treasure and did nothing to earn this esteemed position except to be born of you. You are of strong character, like a mighty oak tree. Your loving kindness is healing and refreshing as a cool summer breeze. Your forgiveness is much like God’s, always willing to start anew. Your heart extends to your neighbor and your enemies. You are reliable and constant as the moon that illuminates the evening sky. You are a breath of fresh air to the weary and downtrodden. You carry the light of Christ with you and it radiates from you warming the souls of those fortunate enough to know you and be loved by you.

You like me, full of God’s grace and love, are HIS. You and I will live together forever in HIS presence. Nothing can separate us from HIS love and our love, for we are one and your blood flows through me, as I am a part of you just as my son is a part of me. You have shown me what it is like to have faith that can move mountains. You have discipled me in God’s ways through your example and your covenant with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You epitomize the scripture, “it is no longer I who live, but Christ in me”.
