He had 1 older brother, Ignacio Ruiz-Sanchez and 1 younger sister, Irma Dolores Ruiz-Sanchez. He loved his mother and family very much. When he was fifteen years old he decided to hop trains and go north to try to find work. His journey took him to Tijuana, Mexico and then eventually to San Diego, California. In 1969, he met his beloved wife, Kimi Wells, at a friends quincenera in Coronado, California. It was love at first sight, even though he spoke very little English and Kimi didn't speak much Spanish. They married on September 4, 1971 in National City, California. They had 3 children, Celia, Cristina and David. Later on they were blessed with 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren, Marcus, Myranda, Jubilee, Alicia, Rainn and Malia. They were his pride and joy. He was employed at Sweetwater Union High School District and worked as a Plant Operations Supervisor at National City Middle School in National City, California.
He belonged to Bonita Valley Seventh Day Adventist church. He enjoyed travel, musicals, music, going to the movies, shopping for treasures at second-hand stores and walks on the beach. He will be most remembered for his sense of humor, honesty and his love for the Lord, family and his fellow man. He had a laugh that would fill up a room. If he called you "my friend", you were special indeed.
