Miklos "Nick" Takacs

Miklos "Nick" Takacs passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017 after a long period of failing health. He came to the United States as a refugee of the 1956 Hungarian revolution and was recognized as a Hungarian "Freedom Fighter" against the Soviet-led communist regime. While Miklos has a dear and great appreciation for the United States granting him political asylum he never lost his love of country and a prayer and hope for her return to the peace she deserves.
Over 2,500 Hungarians and 700 Soviet troops were killed in the conflict, and 200,000 Hungarians fled as refugees. Mass arrests and denunciations continued for months thereafter. By January 1957, the new Soviet-installed government had suppressed all public opposition. These Soviet actions, . . .
