Sam, 67, of Charles City, passed away quietly at home surrounded by the love of his family, Friday, November 24, 2017. After a long battle with illness, Sam passed on peacefully to his home in heaven.
He was born in Richmond and was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Glenn Ratcliff and Martha Elliott Ratcliff and a brother, John Cleveland Ratcliff.
Sam was of the Baptist faith.
Sam was a heavy equipment operator for many years and well known within the construction community.
Sam was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend, who was loved by everyone he ever met.
At the time of his death, he was at his home and surrounded by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Marie Ratcliff, his son, Richard “Coyote” Michael Oliver, and daughter, Roberta “Bobbi” Oliver Raynor, and his loving bulldog, Pretty Girl.
He leaves behind many loved ones, family and friends.
