In 1969, Dr. James A. Twing, & his wife, Ethel, a LPN, were sent by the Lake Orion Medical Group, Michigan, for six month to Heri Mission Hospital, Tanzania, East Africa. The Seventh-day Adventist Church sent them on permanent assignment to the hospital in 1970. After his untimely death, Ethel (Mama Twing) did some amazing work with a ministry carried out today in their name by her African children. Referred to by her grandchildren as "Grandma Africa," Ethel organized her work as Twing Memorial Ministries which has functioned for more than 40 years and is now a 501 (c) (3) non-profit www.twingmm.org In Africa the work is directed by Pastor Musa Mitekaro.
