Alvin Henning was born and grew up in Ft Worth, Texas as the second of three sons born to Bill and Nancy Henning.  He graduated from North Texas University in Denton, Texas with a degree in computer science.  He was employed at American Airlines while living in Dallas and then in Tulsa,  Oklahoma until his retirement around 2000.
He married his wife Bonnie in 1994, and though their marriage ended in 2008, they remained close friends.
In recent years he made important contributions to Mental Health of America through his volunteer work there.
Alvin is survived by his mother Nancy Henning of Dallas, Texas, brothers William Henning, Carole Carsey of Dallas and Charles Henning of Los Angeles, California and Charles's sons Christopher and Andrew.
