Barbara Patricia Dietz Hecht sprit and soul was set free on Friday, August 4 2017. Barbara peacefully passed in her sleep in Lake Worth, Florida.
Barbara was born in the spring of 1951 and grew up in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She attended Shull School and Perth Amboy High School. She grew up spending time at the waterfront and the Jersey Shore. She was affectionately called Barb or Boppsie by her family and close friends. She attending Akron Ohio College in 1969.
In her early twenties, she became a member of a non-denominational Christian fellowship which established Christian Communities in wilderness areas in North and South America. Barbara wanted to make a difference in the world and chose to live in British Columbia. She lived in the unspoiled territory working and teaching the local residence and Indian tribes. In her mid- twenties Barbara returned from the wilderness of Canada and joined the airline industry becoming a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines
She married Harvey Hecht in 1982 and moved to Roslyn, Long Island. Barbara had one biological daughter Aryn Hecht, and two stepchildren, Robyn Perlstein and Ross Hecht.
She was devoted to her father Otto, mother Helen and her Aunt Annie. Above all, she was devoted to her daughter Aryn who was her world.
She is predeceased by her daughter Aryn Hecht, parents Helen and Otto Dietz, and brother James Dietz. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Harvey Hecht, stepchildren Ross Hecht and Robyn Pearlstein, 5 grandchildren, brother Harry Dietz, sister Helen Dietz, 5 nieces, 3 nephews, her childhood friend Maureen Burke and friend of over four decades Irene Delaplaine.
Barbara will be buried next to her daughter Aryn at the Boca Raton Municipal Cemetery.
