Tuscola, Illinois Bob’s career with the Army Corps of Engineers brought him to Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where, as the only 2nd Lt. brave enough to date the post commander’s daughter, he met his wife, Ellen. Army life brought the family to Germany, sparking a lifelong interest in travel. Bob’s engineering career later led to South Carolina, Nebraska and then to Hercules Incorporated in Brunswick, Georgia. Although he rarely mentioned his Vietnam service due to his modesty and respect for those who had made greater sacrifices, Bob was awarded a bronze star for his efforts in ’66 and ’67. After Bob and Ellen settled on St. Simons Island, Georgia, in 1980 with their three children, Bob, Jr., Jeanne and Julie, his home became . . .
