Cleo's family came to Oklahoma by covered wagon. Cleo was from a family of 8 children. Born second from the youngest, she had 5 sisters and two brothers. Cleo came to California as a teenager. She attended church where she met and married Austin McLaughlin ("Jack", "Tex") on June 2, 1939 at Wee Kirk O' the Heather Chapel in Glendale, CA. They resided in various places throughout Southern California and Oregon where they built several homes. Cleo worked together with Jack building drone airplane parts in their woodshop. They enjoyed traveling, which they did extensively in his small airplane and airstream trailer. During their marriage, they were blessed with two daughters who joined them throughout their adventures in life. They were overjoyed when they became grandparents to four wonderful grandchildren. Tex proceeded her in death. Cleo also had the privilege of becoming a great grandmother.
