Jean Marie Ahlrich
(1943 - 2017)


Jean Marie Ahlrich passed away on July 12th, 2017 at her home in Houston, TX.  Jean was born in Freeport, TX and raised in Lake Jackson, TX. She attended Brazosport High School and later San Antonio Junior College where she earned her associate’s degree.

Jean has two children from her first marriage, Grace and Chad. She was an endlessly devoted mom who was always involved in their school, sports and cheerleading activities during their childhood.

Jean worked in Houston, TX for Methodist Hospital for over 25 years and Shell Corporation for over 10 years until her retirement in 2012. She made many dear friends during her career.

Jean loved watching the Houston Astros and U of H Cougars. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She also loved attending Second Baptist Church in Katy, TX with her good friend Judy and her children and grandchildren.

The people who brought the most joy to her life were her children and grandchildren. She devoted herself to making each occasion special and joyful for them. Her children and grandchildren are eternally grateful for her love, friendship, and strength. She was the strongest and most generous woman any of us have been blessed to know and love. Jean was full of faith in her Lord and savior and lifted up others in need.

Jean is preceded in death by her father Edward Ahlrich, her mother Edith Ahlrich and sister Virginia Ann Ahlrich. She is survived by her daughter Grace Fournier and her husband Wilfred Fournier, son Chad Matlock and wife Cathy Matlock, grandson Daniel Matlock, granddaughter Stephanie Matlock, granddaughter Solange Olivares, grandson Jeremy Matlock, grandson Tristan Olivares and grandson Aaron Pack. Jean is also survived by her siblings Carolyn Woodiel and Edward Ahlrich and wife Bitsy and her dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Jean's life will be held on Friday July 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM CST at:
