Morton Kail of Eastchester, N.Y., a long time newspaper columnist and public relations executive, died October 16, 2011 at the age of 86 from progressive supranuclear palsy.
Starting as a reporter for New York City newspapers in the 1950's, Mr. Kail began writing a ski column for the Westchester County chain of 10 daily papers, (now known as Gannett Suburban Newspapers), in 1967. When the road running boom exploded in the late 1970's, he added regular columns on road running, biking and other fitness sports. He also contributed articles to skiing and running publications.
