Rhiannon's Stanford Celebration
Dear Friends,
On December 8, 2007, we experienced a profound tragedy when Rhiannon Meier was taken from us.  Rhiannon was unique in every sense of the word and she meant so many different things to so many of us.  Her death came as a shock to all of us and it is still very hard to believe that she is gone.
Rhiannon left her mark on the Stanford community.  She was a Stanford Dollie, a tour guide, a Sierra Camper, an RA, founded Urban Styles, and a very active member of Ram's Head.  But it isn't the activities that defined her, it was the way she touched all of our lives through them.  It is only fitting that we have a chance to come together to remember all of the things she meant and still means to us.
We would like to invite you to join us for a celebration of Rhiannon Meier's life on Sunday, January 27 at 2pm.  We have not yet finalized the location, but it will either be at Stanford or very close to campus.  This celebration is open to anyone and everyone who has been touched by Rhiannon, her energy and her enthusiasm.
At 2:30pm, there will be a short, informal program that will include
a slide show and short speeches.  If you have pictures or short video clips that you would like to contribute to the slide show, please go to http://groups.google.com/group/rhiannon-stanford-celebration.  If you are unable to send them through this site, please contact Jeff Cooper ( jcooper@stanford.edu).  For those of you who would like to share your stories during the program, please consider sharing short anecdotes that exemplify the person that Rhiannon was.  If you would like to speak, please contact John Chase (jchase@stanford.edu). Attire for the celebration is business casual.
We have most of the details taken care of, but if you would like to
help us with putting this on, please contact either Josh Schiller
(hbunny@stanford.edu ) or Jit Bhattacharya( jit@stanfordalumni.org). We do still need someone to assist us in putting together the slide show as well as someone to videotape the celebration.

Dear Friends,

Rhiannon's body will be cremated today between 4 and 8am California time. Please join my family and friends in prayer that her spirit has fully passed on to God now. We will scatter her ashes in various places sometime next spring and will let you know if/when we have a scattering ceremony.

I hope to see those of you who are in Lawrence at Rhi's celebration on Tuesday at 11 o'clock at First Congregational Church!

Rhiannon's Los Angles Celebration

Dear Friends,

Thank to all of you who celebrated Rhiannon's life with my family and I in Los Angeles on Wednesday, December 12th! I was not surprised to see that the theater was so packed that people had to sit on the floor in their suits and gowns to honor my sister's memory. I look foward to joining my friends and family in another celebration on Tuesday, December 18th in Lawrence, Kansas.

My family and I are joyfully caring for Zoey and Bailey, Rhiannon's beloved dogs. They will stay with my parents permanently. We really love all of the messages and photos that you have shared with us in person, through this website, and over phone and email. Keep them coming, because they keep us strong!!!

Much love,

Rebecca, Rhiannon's little sister
